IBCLC Mentorship Overview
Our mentorship program offers aspiring IBCLCs the opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience in a warm, supportive environment. Interns work closely with a supervising IBCLC to observe, assist, and learn through real patient interactions. You’ll have the chance to support families, contribute to daily clinic operations, and develop the skills needed to provide compassionate, evidence-based lactation care, all while earning supervised clinical hours toward IBCLC certification.

What to Expect
At this time, applicants should have completed at least 95 lactation-specific education hours, though those who are still working toward this requirement are welcome to reach out, we’re happy to help guide you through your options. Previous maternal or infant support experience (such as SLPs, psychologists, OTs, nutritionists, registered dietitians, teachers, nurses in postpartum or pediatrics, and more!) is welcomed but not required. Interns are expected to bring empathy, professionalism, and initiative to their role as they engage in patient care, assist with documentation, and grow within a family-centered clinic environment designed to support both learning and confidence.
