Meet our interns!

Madison Benstead

Hi! My name is Madison. I am a trained lactation educator and aspiring IBCLC. I am a mama of two little boys who keep both my heart and hands incredibly full. In my (rare) spare time, I love to read, listen to podcasts, and binge-watch 90 Day Fiancé.

Most of my days are spent enjoying life with my boys and their dad, and getting outside as often as possible. Combined, I have been breastfeeding for almost 3 years and counting. Although breastfeeding has been one of the most challenging things I have ever done, it has also been the most worthwhile. I have nursed through a traumatic birth experience, tongue and lip ties, latch issues, breast aversion, pregnancy, and toddlerhood!

I also have a B.S in Communication Disorders and Deaf Education. This influenced my love for the positive, lifelong impact that breastfeeding has on oral development and speech as well as my interest in infant oral anatomy and feeding difficulties. I dream of becoming an IBCLC, completing my masters degree as a speech therapist, and eventually specializing as a feeding therapist for babies who need extra help in breastfeeding!

My struggle with my second son is what drove my passion to become an IBCLC. After the most amazing home birth, we faced a lot of challenges, even though it was my second time around breastfeeding. I was so lucky to have the knowledge, resources, and support to continue to breastfeed, but I know not everyone has access to that. I want to help be that change!

I wholeheartedly believe in the phrase “knowledge is power”, especially when it comes to parenthood. I believe that every family deserves to know all options available and the pros and cons to make a truly informed decision. Not only does this allow the family to make a decision that feels right for THEIR family, they will also feel more confident and empowered in their decision-especially when it comes to feeding their baby! I am here to help provide knowledge and meet families where they are at with love and support wherever their feeding journey takes them.
